My first experience with Hastings came at a frightening time for
investors across the globe. We had teamed up to acquire and merge two businesses, and all the work ahead of us started at the peak of the 2008 financial crisis. Things were looking pretty bleak everywhere, and we were in a position where we needed to restructure the entire business. Throughout the process there was willingness, understanding and some much needed foresight. In the end, we were able to grow the platform and eventually sell. It felt like a miracle, but I couldn’t have done it without them.
Unlike many other private equity firms I’ve worked with, Hastings showed a tremendous amount of mutual respect. The truth is, partnership matters, and because they were willing to bend and flex with my needs, I was willing to blend and flex with theirs.
After what we had been through, there was no questioning my confidence in them, and there remained a very high level of communication between us. I can say with sincerity that they are genuine people with no other agenda than to facilitate wins for both parties. I was able to take advantage of so many more opportunities because of the way they had approached our relationship in the beginning.
